Will Mopper change outdoor advertising to shopping?

Mopper is a Swedish innovation that now has the ambition to update advertising by including shopping. To make it happen they are teaming up with JCDecaux to get the advertising agencies to compete in a nationwide effort in Sweden Ute2011, the premiere showcase for Outdoor Advertising.
In other words will Sweden mopping the world?

  1. Yes. This is definitely where things are headed. Augmented commerce is imminent. Look at what Gold Run http://mashable.com/2011/01/15/goldrun/ and others are doing. There will undoubtedly be more and more apps like Mopper to bridge the traditional shopping experience with the growing number of smartphones and services that feed them. People ARE on the go, and they ARE using smartphones. Outdoor advertising, up until this point, has been limited to presence marketing. Maybe the best thing about JCDecaux’ competition using Mopper is that it clearly marks a marketing game-changer: ad agencies will be forced to reckon with the changes in the classic “360 degree marketing landscape”. It’ll be interesting to see the response.
